We welcome applications from students who wish to enroll into a degree or certificate program at SUNY Schenectady. If you plan to take classes as a visiting or non-matriculated (not degree seeking) student, you may contact the Registrar's Office. Once we receive your high school transcript or GED/TASC scores, we will review your file for acceptance. With the exception of the 24 credit hour program, we cannot review your application without proof of high school graduation or equivalency. If you are already an accepted student do not use this application to attempt to change your program, instead contact academic advising.

There is no fee for prospective students using this application.

SUNY RECONNECT

SUNY Reconnect is SUNY's free community college program for New York adults. Through the New York State Opportunity Promise scholarship, SUNY Reconnect provides opportunities for free associate degrees in high-demand fields for New Yorkers 25 to 55 with no college degree. The program aims to help connect New Yorkers with good-paying jobs while boosting economic growth in key industries across New York State. To be eligible you must meet all of the following qualifications:

New York State resident (or eligible for in-state tuition).
Aged 25-55 as of the first day of classes.
No prior college degree (associate or bachelor's)

Approved programs for Reconnect at SUNY Schenectady include Chemical Dependency Counseling AAS, Computer Information Systems AAS, Computer Networking Systems and Cyber Security AAS, Computer Science AS, Early Childhood AAS, Teacher Education Transfer AS, and Programming for Game Design AS.

Academic Interest

Certain academic programs may have additional requirements for admission in addition to a final high school transcript or GED/TASC scores.

Music students:* Applicants may choose your program of interest in the application; however, students will be placed in the Music Certificate Program until successful completed an audition with the School of Music, coordinated twice per year through the School of Music.

Air Traffic Control and Aviation Science (Pilot Option):* Applicants will be asked to provide proof of First or Second Class Medical Certificate and proof of US Citizenship (or completion of U.S Office of Homeland Security Administration background check requirements) before an offer of admission can be made.

24 Credit Hour Program:* Applicants should complete the 24 Credit Hour Program Inquiry in order to schedule the Ability to Benefit (ATB) exam in lieu of a high school diploma or GED/TASC for admission requirements. This program is only for students who will not graduate high school or students without HS equivalency who want to earn their GED. International Students are NOT eligible for this program.
